Recently did a clean install of Win XP Home on a Micron Millennia Pentium III 866MHz
computer that previously ran Win ME.

Everything went fine, and there appears to be only one problem:

When you click Start/Shutdown the computer doesn't shutdown. It goes through the
shutdown/restart cycle as if Restart were selected instead of Shutdown. This did work
normally for some time after the upgrade, so I wouldn't think it would be a hardware or
BIOS compatibility problem.

What could have changed to cause this unusual behaviour? Any one else experienced
this? Is there a know Virus that causes this? Norton Internet Security firewall and
Anti-virus is enabled and running on the system.

Thanks for the pointer. This appears to be a great resource. I'll be trying out some
of these tips tonight!
