Windows restarts after clicking on Shutdown

I just installed Windows XP Home on a new drive, new computer. I have
configured it to be seen on my home network. It is not yet online.
It shutdown just fine at this point. Then I installed Norton
Anti-virus 2005. After selecting Shutdown, the computer powers off
then powers back on within a few seconds. Is NAV 2005 not compatable
with my system? Is this a known issue with NAV? TIA

Although many people use NAV 2005 without problems (including on the
computer I am using at the moment), others experience all sorts of problems.
I have always said that it is due to the system configuration on the
troublesome machines. But, not being able to get my hands on those computers
I am not able to prove the fact.

I have used all versions of either Norton Utilities, Norton AntiVirus or
Norton SystemWorks on every computer I have owned since about 1993. I have
never had problems with any of them, except for one time a few years ago
when Symantec sent out a faulty antivirus update. That one was fun!

Check your BIOS, look for something called "WakeOnLan" and disable this
feature, your home network is probably starting your computer.

I have the MSI K8N motherboard with all BIOS settings at the default.
The Wake-On-Lan is disabled. But thanks anyway for the
suggestion--there may be another setting causing NAV fits.

Disable everything that reads 'Wake up' in the BIOS settings. Also, I have
seen this behavior if you have a CD/DVD in the drive during a shutdown.
