My PC has been taking an extreme amount of time to boot, so last night I
reinstalled windows xp Home SP1. For the install, I used the option of
installing a fresh copy over the existing copy without reformating the disc
partition. I then went to install Office xp standard for students and
teachers version 2002 and the disk will not load. I copied the contents of
the disc onto my hard drive and attempted to run from there, the info copied
fine but it still would not execute the set-up program.
It looks like a copy of the office programs are still on my C drive in the
program files folder, but when I click on the app, the computer crashes.
Help Please. I have now wasted about 15 hours on this nonsense.
Should I reformat the HD and start from scratch?
Finally, it appears that the computer is running about 50% slower than normal.
