A friend has a Pavillion 310N that he purchased with Windows XP Home Edition
installed and no operating system cd. Of course he did not create the system
restore CD's. The hard drive has crashed and no information is recoverable.
I have the Cetificate of Authenticiy on the side of the computer and with the
paperwork that came with the computer.
Would it be legal and possible to reinstall the operating system using a
retail or oem XP home edition cd? HP no longer sells the restore cd's. Any
other legal alternatives that don't involve purchasing a new set of restore
cd's?
Thanks
