reinstalling XP home

having problems system seems laggy i usually just restore to factory
condition and go from there , but no wi am missing a button.gif and cant do
it anylonger.
Is it possible for me to borrow my friends winxp home cd and use the cd key
on teh side of my system to reinstall XP home?
my current system came with home on it and a reinstall cd but that will not
work either.

Your friends CD may not work unless it is identical to yours.
Contact the manufacturer for replacement CD.

Chances are that yours is an OEM edition and your friends is a Retail Version.

If so your Product ID is useless for his version.
