I'm trying to clean up my configsys startups but receive an "access denied"
message stating that I must log in as an administrator. Problem is I am
already logged in an administrative account. How can I correct this?

Start---run---type in msconfig click OK and select items in the startup tab.

My mistake, sorry. When I run msconfig I get the access denied message with
advice to log in as an administrator. Trouble is I am already logged in as
the only admin on this PC. How do I correct?

The XP Home Edition hides the actual Administrator Account in a normal start.
You have to do a SAFE MODE start to see the actual Administrator Account.
You are an administrative user, but not the Administrator.
Tap the F8 key as the computer is first starting to boot.
You will get a start menu with Safe Mode as an option.
When Safe Mode boots, you will have a choice to pick the Administrator or your user name.
