XP Home can't change workgroup

I have a user who brought his PC in to connect to our network, wich is allowed. However, when I attempt to change his workgroup to the name of the company workgroup name, I receive the following message:

The following error occurred validating the name "SJLNT1".
you were not connected because a duplicate name exists on the network. Go to System in Control Pannel to change the computer nameand try again

I can change the workgroup name to ANY NAME EXCEPT SJLNT1.
 
The duplicate name is probably the computer name, not the
workgroup name. Change the name of the computer and try
again. You must be logged in as administrator on your

Oops! I wasn't thinking, the "SJLNT1" isn't my workgroup it's my mail server, once I used the actual workgroup everything was fine.
