XP hangs on shut-down after CPU upgrade

I recently replaced a Pentium II 350 with Pentium III 450. According to
everything I could read at Intel, my motherboard supports this. It seems to
run fine. The only problem is that Windows XP Pro hangs just before turning
itself off. I turn power off and back on and the system reboots fine. I
don't think this is doing any harm, but I sure would like to fix it.

Sound like you may need to do a repair re-install of your XP.
