XP hangs during shutdown after using USB Flash disk

I have a USB 2.0 Supertalentflash pendrive (512MB). I use it fine in
windowsXP Home - but even when I have gone through the procedure safely to
remove it, windowsXP won't shut down. It hands at the 'shutting down'
message after saving settings. I have to give a long presson the power
switch and force a shutdown. The computer does not do a scandisk then next
time it is switched on.

The same pendrive works in a winXP Prof computer, win2000 and win98SE
computers. Win98SE needs a driver, but the others have used the generic MS
driver.

The Manufacturer hasn't helped - just said I could get a return number from
my supplier.

Any ideas?
