XP Freezes when a CD is Inserted

Hello,

I am experiencing windows XP freezing when inserting any
CD rom, though it is hit and miss.

The Application logs show the following numerous errors :-

The device, \Device\Harddisk2\D, is not ready for access
yet.

Any suggestions as to the cause? I've removed the drives
in safe mode and reinstalled.

2 * 200Gb SATA Hard Drives

Dirty CD`s will lock up system or faulty cdrom or faulty ram.
