xp freezes on install

I just bought a new MSI K7N2 delta motherboad and a
chaintech fx5600 graffics card. I'm running an MAD 1700
athelon processor. I have XP on my harddrive right now
but everytime i try to load it it crashes. I figured
that i'll reinstall windows xp on the drive. The windows
setup starts, and I get the blue setup screen and it
starts reading the CD. When it gets to the point were
it says, "setup is starting windows" the installation
freezes up. It never moves on in the installation. It
also freezes up the keyboard becasue CTL-ALT-DEL doesn't
reboot and pressing the caps lock key doesn't change the
light on the keyboard. Both the motherboard and vidoe
card say that they run Win XP. Any Ideas?

Try to install with just the necessary basic hardware attached/enabled. No
extras. Also, check that BIOS doesn't have any antivirus or boot disk
protection enabled. And don't overclock for the install. Wait until Windows
is in - load with conservative values (defaults usually work well).

Paul,
I'm also having problems intalling XP pro with my MSI Neo2
motherboard. I made the change you suggested and it seemed to help
(thanks for the tip.) But now I'm getting "file\i386\ntkrnlmp.exe
could not be loaded. Error code 4" at the blue setup screen. Any
suggestions?
