Can anyone tell me what is happening? When i boot my computer, i see the
Microsoft logo screen, then it freezes after that and all i see is the black
screen and the mouse cursor.

Any help to get it back to "normal" would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Maxine

Hi there,
can you boot in safe mode and do some troubleshooting from there? Also,
it would be a good idea to run a chkdsk..

see how u go

No i can't seem to boot into anything. It gets as far as booting into safe
mode, all i see it the white letters written across the top and bottom, but
it doesn't completely load. I'm beginning to wonder if it isn't the HDD. It
is a WD 160gb drive. I've exchanged it for a new one in November when i was
having the same problems. Checking into if maybe WD may have problems with
their drives.

Thank you,
Maxine

HI Maxine,

Here is a link that you might want to look at. there is a lot of info
check the section on errors/missing files

I hope this will help, otherwise, I know, re-install which might be a
pain. I usually make a ghost image when I have a system running
correctly with all the patches/service packs etc. and keep it on another
hard drive, just in case something happens, I can ghost the image back
and have my system running in no time

I hope this helps,

all the best
