XP forgets

WinXP explorer (not IE but the file display) keeps forgeting what size I
have re-sized the open window when I close it. It keeps defaulting to some
small size, and will resize OK by grasping the edges as usual. Close
Explorer , and re-open and its gone back small again. I've tried holding
the shift key when closing, and reopens , just once , to the resized window,
then defaults back to a small window on the second time of opening.. Any
ideas how to make it remember the settings as it was closed??..
Thanks

Did you try using File -> Exit on the toolbar. Resize (or maximize)
first then do the file->exit.

I want to resize rather than maximise ( I have a 24inch widescreen monitor)
, and I don't have file --> close which may be the same thing, but in case
I'm in the wrong place I'll mention it. I've tried FILE ---> close and
shift-->X(exit) and I've tried opening multiple copies, resizing and closing
them (first opened-first closed etc). The I stopped OE which is normally
running all the time and a couple of firefox windows, open Windows Explorer
and its gone back to a small size version....
I've run Adaware , trojan remover , and Trend Internet security all updated
to the latest , and the only thing found were a few cookies ( no great
problem as some sites need a login like Yahoo etc)
Thanks for the help, but its still being a bit of a pain...

Resize or maximize, who cares. You set the size!
File-> exit or File-Close, who cares, use it!
Always works for me. Use one copy, not multiple.
That's about the only help I can come up with. Hang in, someone else
might come up with ideas.

Try using the Ctrl key instead of the shift key. If no joy, click on tools,
folder options, view tab, click the apply to all folders button and OK.
