xp driver conflict.

i am trying to up grade from xp home to xp pro but xp pro
has a conflict with my dvd drive it does not support it.
What should i do?

XP Home vs Pro: Pro offers more applications, but doesn't have any difference in its kernel.

The Optical disk problem you have is unlikely to be a device driver problem for XP.

Uninstall the drivers and remove the Optical drive power cable.

Complete the installation of XP and any applications.

Reconnect the Power Cable and let Windows find the drivers for your drive.
If it worked in Home, it will work in Pro.

Exactly. The thing is that XP Home and XP Pro have the exact same
hardware compatibility and should use the exact same drivers. Anything
that is supported by Home is supported by Professional
