XP doesn't see local server.

I have a computer at my work which usually has no problems connecting
to the server. It shows up in my network places. But for some strange
reason today everything disappeared, I managed to mess around with the
settings and get it to see all the other local computers. But it still
won't see the server, i can't even manually connect to it by typing in
the IP. Any ideas on what it could be? Please let me know.

Can you ping the server by IP address?
What did you change when you "messed around" with the settings?
