Hello-
I used Drive Image 7 to copy the computer's hard drive to
a new drive. The data appears to have transferred
properly. Both drives (master & slave)show the same files
and folders in Explorer). I then remove the original
(master) drive , set the new drive to master and reboot.
The drive is reported correctly in the system's BIOS. But
after the Dell splash screen, I get the message that it
can't find a drive.
I put in the XP Pro CD and booted from it to the Recovery
Console. I ran CHKDSK and the drive was found and had no
errors. I then entered FIXMBR and it successfully wrote
the boot record. I tried FIXBOOT and received the message
that a drive could not be found. I'm stumped. Any
suggestions are most welcome. Thank you.

Inspect the hard drive connections closely, as it's easy
to not have the IDE cables fully engaged together. You
must have them correctly allined and mated then really
firmly pushed in. And if your PC also has a controller for
the hard drive check those wires too.
