XP does not recognize scanner

HP 2200c scanner works on other pc's with XP, using same
software and cables. Other devices run fine on either usb
port. Have switched cables, reinstalled software and
latest drivers are installed. Would appreciate any
help.

Did you get the updates as well as the drivers from the HP website at:

Yes, in fact, troubleshot every avenue with HP and they
say it's the operating system. This scanner has not
worked since I upgraded from ME. Had other issues early
on after upgrade so have used up all freebie assistance
from Microsoft. I have also reinstalled the XP operating
system. The actual message is: Sorry, scanner could not
be initialized (Scanner not found.

Find a friend with a computer and ask if you can try installing it on their
PC. If it won't install on theirs either, suspect the scanner has died.

Is it a USB scanner....? Have you ensured your USB ports work fine with
other USB devices?
