XP Default setting

Using Dell 4600 with XP Home. Trying to make windows media player the
default player. When I use "start", "Set Program Access and Defaults", make
changes and click "O.K." - per instructions - everything seems alright. But
XP is not remembering any of the changes I made. I go back and look and none
of the changes are kept, and I'm stuck with the old settings.

OPen WMP,tools,options,file-types tab,select all.WMP is now selecte
as default.

Thank you. I tried it. Dell's Musicmatch Juke Box pops up briefly and then
nothing. I still have to open WMP manually.
