XP de-evolving

This one might be a bug I caught.

XP on my laptop seems to be de-evolving. A couple of things I have noticed
over the course of the last week. The XP graphics are different -- no longer
a green, but now something that looks like the Win2000 start button. I
cannot set up a dial-up connection. My device manager shows I have a modem,
but when I use the connection wizard, making a dial-up connection is grey-ed
out.
Then, this morning, when I went to printer, I got a message that told me no
printers were installed on my machine. Sure enough, the printers area is
empty.

Any ideas?
