XP continuously reboots

My XP computer gets to the XP logo screen and then
reboots, over and over. I cannot even get in through safe
mode. Any ideas or suggestions? I have heard this may be
a result of kernel32.dll being damaged. Any truth to that
with other people's experience. Thanks for anyone's help.

If you can't get to Safe Mode, try Last Known Good Configuration.
If that also fails, perform a Repair Installation:

Mine did exactly the same this evening. I am in a panic
as I am in the middle of producing a very important
document.

Before my PC crashed, it would not send emails and could
not connect to my ISP showing an error in outlook to this
effect.

My version of XP is Home and it never shuts down unless I
force the PC off.

Anyone any ideas how to get the PC back on (and will my
data still be there?
