xp clean install drive letters

I think I've made a mess now. I did a clean install of xp home on a PC
where I had 2 partitions on the hard drive - the c drive was ntfs and a
smaller d drive was fat32. When installing from scratch I was prompted
to delete the partitions and I didn't want to delete the smaller drive.
The XP setup wouldn't let me just clean install on the larger drive so
I deleted it and then reset it up (as NTFS) and started the install to
there. Unfortunately, I've finally noticed that the smaller FAT32
drive has now been designated as "C" while the boot drive is "D".
Since this may be confusing, I'd love to rename them, but when I go
into disk management it won't let me rename either one. I tried to
rename the smaller to "K", but couldn't. The smaller drive is
designated a "system" drive and the larger a "boot" drive. Is there
any way to do this? Or is it more trouble than it's worth? Any
problems down the road with this setup? Other than having to watch
every install with an eagle eye as they will all want to install to "C"?

No real disadvantages.

You cannot safely rename them.
