I have come across an interesting issue that I have not
been able to find any information about.
I have a Dell C640 laptop with a combo DVD/CDRW drive in
it. It is running Windows XP SP1 (with all latest
patches from Windowsupdate)
When I insert a CDROM, the drive will spin for a few
moments. When I go to my computer, it will show that the
CD has 0 bytes. I know the CD is good, and I have tried
multiple CDs. If I look under Disk Management(under
computer management mmc) it shows that the cdrom has
337MB (latest cd I put in) or whatever. So I know that
at some level the OS sees the CD properly.
So the question is, why can't I access the information on
the disk from Windows Explorer/command prompt/anything?
I do not believe it is a hardware issue, as I can boot
from a bootable CD without issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Dave
