When I try to join domain over WAN, the message prompt
out "Computer Name Change: A domain controller for the
domain <DomainName> could note be contracted"

Probably due to a DNS failure. You need to set up DNS on the workstation so
that it sees only the DNS server on the directory.

Name resolution problem, most likely.

If it's an NT4 domain, you need to be able to resolve the
NetBIOS names of the domain controller.
That means ensuring the client is pointing to a WINS server
which contains the correct records.

For a 2k / 2k3 domain, it means DNS.
Ensure the client is pointing to a DNS server which can
server up the Domain's DNS records.

A Windows 2000 / 2003 domain has a DNS server as part of the domain setup.
This may have been set up automatically when you set up the domain, or it
may have been manually set up before the domain was created.

Ask the domain administrator what the IP address of the DNS server is.
( It might well be the same machine as the Domain Controller. )

The windows client needs to have connectivity to the DNS server ( try
pinging it. ), and this DNS server needs to be the only one listed in the
client's DNS settings.
