XP cannot resolve names

Looks like I am having 2 problems

- DHCP address not being assigne
- Cannot get the name resolve

I have an XP home edition PC which stopped working 2 days ago. I found that it is not getting ip address via dhcp from the router but getting an 169.x.x.x address. Using IPCONFIG /RELEASE, RENEW did not help. However, my other 2 PCs are working fine( getting ip address and access internet). So I configured static ip address, default gateway and DNS. Then, I can ping the ip address but cannot ping the names such as www.yahoo.com or www.cisco.com

I tried several different DNS servers(such as the ones by ORSC) but no difference
I reset TCP/IP stack using netsh ... still the sam

Any help will be highly appreciate

James,
I have talked to several people with the same problem -XP Home no
longer correctly resolves DHCP. I worked on one and although the
FW/Router (linksys) was assigning it correctly the laptop would not
accept it. I am wondering if a critical update that MS released last
week for home editiion caused the problem. I was able to get the
laptop to work by assigning static IPs to the NIC and wireless NIC.
Note: my XP Pro laptop had no problem with DHCP or connecting at
anytime.
