XP Box Gets Wrong IP From DHCP Server

I have a D-Link DI-804U router serving DHCP to a 98 and an XP box. The XP box ran 98SE for a couple of years before upgrading. The router reserves IP addresses for each machine based on the machine name, so that one machine can be in the DMZ for gaming. Everything worked fine before the upgrade, but now the XP box gets the wrong IP from the router, and the IP it should get is never assigned to either machine. The machine name under XP is the same as it was under 98SE, so the only thing I can conclude is that XP is not passing the name to the router, or is doing so incorrectly. Any advice

TIA
Mike

Usually, DHCP reservations are done with the MAC address of the network
adapter on that computer. I don't know how Dlink does it. Cehck your
settings? Dlink support?

Mike,

are you sure about that? I haven't seen such a router yet. I do
know some that reserve IP addresses based on the MAC address
though.
