XP boots to a black screen with just a pointer after system restor

I performed a system restore point rollback and after restarting, it booted
to a black screen, and just sits there. The HD doesn't even look like it's
being read after getting to this point. I can move the mouse...but that is
it. Just a mouse pointer on a black screen. What should I do??

If present, remove sp2, (if your cd does not include it,) and run a upgrade
setup of xp.
