XP boots slow

It takes my computer 6 to 7 minutes to boot. I'm running XP home edition
with all the updates and service packs on an eMachine with 128mb DDR, 40GB
HD (with plenty of room). I've recently installed Norton 2005. Could this
be making the computer so slow?

Thanks,
Barb

What happens if you disable Norton?
2x or 4x the memory is also advisable with Windows XP.
128mb is usually insufficient.

Try disabling uncessary items from loading and start up and also wudnt
hurt to run a disk cleanup, delete the temporary files etc and chkdsk
and then analyze the HDD frag levels. I would also suggest addiong more
RAM to speed up things. Also check out this link
