XP boot problem (system32/config.sys)

Hi all,

I'd been working on my pc yesterday with no problems; left it for an hour
went back and clicked on an IE7 tab and got a blue screen with message
starting "IRQ not less than equal ...." or something similar. I then
re-booted but when windows comes to load I get the following message:
"C:/system32/config.sys is missing or corrupt ..." and cannot get any
further.

Any suggestions to what I can do to solve this would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in anticipation
