Hi there,

My MCE PC was working fine then i had a power cut and when i restarted i had
another power cut half way through the boot, now when i start the pc i get
..corrupt config.sys file.. please insert you disk and press 'r'. (or
something similar) i can really remember as it was about a week ago and
don't have it in front of me with the exact error.

any ideas?

i have not done anything yet as someone (Microsoft employee) mentioned to me
that if i do what it says on the screen it might cause more problems!?

cheers

James

The message probably references the config\system registry file, not the
config.sys file. It means that you must do a bit of registry swapping via
the recovery console, by another boot disk that allows NTFS access, or by
removing the hard disk, hosting it in another system, and doing the file
copies from there. Once that's done, the system should reboot in its
default mode (which means it will not know about any of the programs you
installed) so you run System Restore to get back to where you were.
