xp bogged down - help

Gary Gibson

I have a xp machine that is painfully slow. Task manager shows two processes
(imgftp.exe, kbmp3.exe) unknown to google hogging the cpu up to 90%. When i
end the process via task manger, it simply comes back.

I have run spybot and it only finds dse exploit. When i search the hd for
either of files above, the search finds only a pf (kbmp3.pf) file in
windows/prefetch. I have deleted all in this folder. Norton anti virus comes
up empty.

Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks, Gary Gibson

Hello Gary, in my attempt to reply to your post, I inadvertantly sent it to
the post directly below yours, which has a problem with a folder in start up.
I can post this to you again, or you could just read the other. In any case,
I do believe this is a malware problem. The fix is in the other post.
Sorry for the confusion.
