XP Backup Needed

Thanks. The Acronis website is only one page, with no real information. And
when you say another drive, I do mean an external USB drive. But how do you
manage to boot the system to start the recovery. Retrospect has you create
and burn an ISO, which you boot from, and it bootstraps a basic Retrospect,
which starts pulling in the backup data from your external disk. So how do
you manage this in Acronis? And I agree about the Acronis Secure Zone,
Although if you can manage to have a second hard drive in your main pc, that
wouldn't be a bad idea to back up to. So, if you really have a true disk
image backup (even if it's a few days old), you just change the boot order
and it's as if nothing ever happened.

Did you check out the Support section, and the FAQs? Also, I think you can
download the pdf manual.
And
when you say another drive, I do mean an external USB drive. But how do
you
manage to boot the system to start the recovery.

After I have made an image backup to another HD (external OR internal), and
I want to restore it, I simply go into Acronis True Image and work through
the Restore menu prompts, and after checking the image, Acronis reboots your
computer and goes into the restore operation. When its finished, it
reboots back into windows.

In the event you can't boot into windows in the first place, you can always
boot up on the restore CD that comes with Acronis True Image, if you buy the
boxed version (or you can make one).
Retrospect has you create
and burn an ISO, which you boot from, and it bootstraps a basic
Retrospect,

I don't have to mess with the boot order (per the above explanation), as
long as I don't use the Acronis Secure Zone. However, as mentioned, if
things are really messed up on your system, you CAN always boot up on the
Acronis restore CD, if needbe, and that way get access to your backup image.
(but I rarely have had to do this, as Acronis is installed right there on
the system drive).

I understand. If it can do incremental backups, that would be great. Not
really necessary, but useful in certain instances. I can always play with
this once the package is working. I will check out the FAQs. BTW, Newegg is
selling it for $40, with a $20 rebate, as told to me by responder Mike
Torello (Thanks Mike). For that price I would buy almost any software. Thank
you again.

They used to have a combo deal where you can get the Director Suite
with it at a really good price. If you think you might like to have a
really great partition manager, go for that deal.
