XP automatically restarts my PC

I am using XP. Recently - within the last 24 hours, my PC restarts even
though I select the option to shut down. I notice a text window displays
very quickly (too quick to read) just before the PC shuts down then restarts.
How can I keep this from happening?

It's unlikely xp has anything to do with that,probably a hardware problem.
In xp,go to run,type:Msinfo32 Then select,hardware,problem devices.You
might also open ADM.,event viewer,chk events for issues.
