XP and Midi Input

When I was using Windows 98 I used to be able to get input from a MIDI
device with a breakout box connected to the joystick port. I now have a new
computer with XP Home Edition. It has a Realtek AC97 Audio sound card on
the main board. The software I am using (Band-in-a-box) says I have no Midi
input device. I can't find anything on MPU-401 and XP.

Can anyone tell me how I can access my Midi device using XP?

Thanks

Tom

Get a new sound card that supports midi input. Many of the onboard ac97
audio is just basic audio to get sound. You need a real sound card.

Oh! Okay, thanks for that.
