Yes I have tried plugging a cable in, like I said, it
works for my Win98 machine and XP directly to the modem.
I'm thinking there is a setup in network or something I am
missing, I just bought this computer and XP was upgraded
when I bought it. TCP-IP is on the
list with assign IP automatically, I've tried resetting
the router many times. The lights are green on my LAN
connection both the router and computer. When I open IE,
I can't acces 192.168.1.1 to setup the router. The CD
installation tells me the router is not connected.
see the original messages below...
Any idea?
You don't give enough information to enable any real
assistance. All I
can suggest is maybe the obvious ... are you sure the
wireless card in
the XP machine is working? Have you tried connecting the
XP machine to
the Linksys box with a wire (make sure you pick the
correct point to
plug it into).

working. My Win98 computer works fine with the router and
a cable. I now have another machine running XP. The XP
one will work connected directly to the DSL modem but will
not work connected to the router, WHY????
