Wireless XP notebook and Linksys router don't work

Brent

I have been struggling for a few weeks trying to get this
config to work. Linksys Wireless G router connected to
the Internet via Cable modem. 1 Desktop XP machine, wired
into router. 1 Dell Laptop running XP trying to connect
via wireless B card (Dell 1150).

The desktop is running AOL V9.0 and connects fine to the
router and Aol and Internet. Laptop will talk to Router
(ie can ping Router, router can ping laptop), just can't
get IE to bring up a Website/URL. I am very familiar with
B technology, have a SMC wireless B router and many
wired/wireless PC's running, combo of 98SE, 2000 pro and
XP with no issues.

I have tried everything I know and nothing fixes it. I
did take the Dell Laptop to my house and it connect to my
Router and the internet fine. I double and triple checked
all settings on the Linksys router. it is setup for Dual
mode (G and B wireless NICs). No MAC blocking is on.
Laptop is set to DHCP, gets proper IP address.
IPCONFIG /ALL looks great, node type Broadcast.

I also tried my Netgear wireless B NIC in the Dell laptop
and it did not work either. I have heard of non-Linksys
NICs not working with with Linksys routers. That is my
next step. Any ideas out there ?
thx

Have you tried reaching any sistes via IP address to see if it's a DNS
problem?

Apart from that one thing that can cause a problem is hotfix 826942, which
is a wireless roll-up patch. It seems to require WPA support in your
hardware, and if both the router and card aren't capable, you might have
problems. The way to get around this is to either upgrade the firmware in
your hardware to the latest one that supports WPA, or if that's not
possible, then you can remove the hotfix just to see if it works.
