XP and AOL IM buddy window

Anyone know why AOL Instant Messenger keeps popping up the buddy window?
It's acting like a reconnection. The term I've heard used for this is
flapping but I haven't had any luck finding much info. All my other
connections are fine and do not exhibit this behavior.

Any help or insight would be most welcome.

I'm afraid you'll need to contact AOL's tech support for resolution
of problems with (or caused by) their product; Microsoft has no control
over AOL's product quality (or lack thereof).

I'm not computer savy and it might might be a stupid suggestion but are you sure you don't have the
reconnect automaticaly box checked in the sign on/sign off options?
