After installing to XP Pro (had ME) on my Acer Veriton FP@ ... I have found
that the icon in the system tray for HotIDE 3.91 does not consistently
appear. This is a bitch cos you need this to change out the hardware items
(ie: CDRW, DVD, Floppy, etc). Can anyone tell how to fix this?

Also, since going to XP my CDRW (Burner) will read but not burn (write) ...
does anyone know how to fix this?

Go to Acer and download all of their Windows XP Motherboard-specific
drivers. Download a Windows XP version of HotIDE [this is neither a Win XP,
nor a Microsoft product].
Install the drivers and the manufacturer-specific hardware management
software.

If Acer doesn't have drivers and/or a Win XP version of HotIDE, then they do
not support Win XP on your laptop and you will have to either be happy with
what you got, or go back to Win ME as supplied by Acer.
