This may be a stupid question, but how do I turn off
those annoying alerts that come on in my task bar (the
right side next to the time)??? I get a message whenever
my wireless connection is lost, or when there are new
updates to install... whenever anything happens, a box
pops up telling me and its sooooo annoying. Help please.
thanks.

If your talking about the "balloons" that make
that "pop!" sound, open regedit (start, run, Regedit)
back up your registry 1stl, then look for
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersio
n\Explorer\Advanced
Name: EnableBalloonTips
Data Type: REG_DWORD
Value: 0
and change the 0 to a 1 it will kill them off for good

wow.. Pete, that was a little more technical than I
thought it would be but I think I got it. Thanks.
Thanks to Chris too for your help. :)
