I purchased a router which has a firewall built in, so I turned off XP's
firewall, question is: how do I turn off the annoying alert that comes up
everytime I log into my Windows session?

Easy, Go to a computer store and purchase a third party firewall. Your
router only blocks incoming info not outgoing. A third party firewall wilol
do this for you. If you want a free solution the 2 i reccomend are sygates
personal firewall at www.sygate.com or Zonealarm at www.zonealarm.com

Hi

Control Panel/Security Center, click on the "Change the Way
Security Center Notifies Me" link in the left pane.

If the "Change the Way Security Center Notifies Me" doesn't stick
when you reboot, or you want to disable the Security Center totally,
you can do the following:

Start/Run --> services.msc

Find "Security Center" in the list, double click on it, set
"Startup type" to Disabled.
