My new Dell computer came with XP Pro. When I went through the initial set
up, I did not activate at that time, choosing to do so later. I has now been
9 days and XP has not prompted me to activate so I called Dell who said to
look on my Start menu for and Activation link - nothing there. They referred
me to Microsoft Activation Dept, who had me enter at the Run> oobe/msoobe /a.
This returned a screen advising that my Windows was Activated -- but I
never did anything, and did not enter any product codes such as I had to do
to activate my MS Office Product.
My concern is it will just as automatically stop working after 30 days. Is
there any way to check on this further? I noticed the following commands
below in another posting regarding activation.
1) What specifically does this do?
2) Do you enter the " " before and after if you use these commands?
Reboot to Safe Mode:
Reboot tapping F8 each second.
Select Safe Mode at the menu
Start/Run
Type "regsvr32.exe regwizc.dll" ENTER
Type "regsvr32.exe licdll.dll" ENTER
Reboot.
Activate again
