XP 32 bit versus 64 bit

I'm trying to install the patch for the latest worm and
need to know if I have Windows XP 32 bit or 64 bit. Can't
seem to determine this from Run in the start menu.

Is this a simple answer...such as all home users are 32
bit? Please help.

You have 32bit most likely

If you have XP Home it is for sure 32bit.

If you have XP Pro..Right click on My Computer and select Properties. If
you see 64-bit in there anywhere u have 64 it it does not say 64 then u have
32.

I am sure if you had 64 bit XP, you would know about it.
I think you have to have one of the new "Itanium"
processors to run it, and they cost somewhere in the
vicinity of AUD1000.00, (But I have been known to be
wrong !!)

Just FYI, AMD is set to release consumer targeted 64-bit processors soon.
Currently though as Andrew pointed out, unless you paid more than average
for your system it is almost assuredly a 32-bit system.
