Hi, I recently installed XP home on an AMD Athlon 64, and everytime I shut
the computer down, it wants me to re-activate Windows- stating there was a
hardware change. alll the device's drivers are loaded and working fine (no
problems in device manager), so far I have activated it 3 times over the
phone with microsoft. Any sugestions? I am thinking that buying XP 64 bit
will solve this problem, but in the mean time, what can you suggest?

Ok, after reading through all other questions, I have come up with the
following:
You are prompted to activate Windows every time you restart your computer
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/312295/en-us
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a retail copy of XP not an activation crack, (I did get my activation
key over the phone from MS), so that probably isn't the issue, But I will go
through the registry and check. I was just wondering if I had to do anything
"Different" for installing XP on an Athlon 64, because I just did a standard
"format and install" like everyone of the other hundreds of XP installs I
have done (this was the first 64 system I had built though).
-Thanks in advance
