XP 2 INSTALL FAILURE

hello i have tried twice to install sp2 from posted cd
my comp is clear of all spyware all progs inc:zone alarm
and virius prog stopped system cleaned by system mechanic
4 pro:,all drives defraged,off line can do no more
loading up from cd -rw or dvd rw it stops saying "cannot
read /write from data base
any clues?

The CD could be defective. Also insufficient free space on the disk
could cause problems when installing the SP2.
