One guess is you might have "accidentally" clicked the maximize button at
the top right corner (just to the left of the "x" button)

Just click on the button again to revert to "a smaller box"

Another guess is that you might have hit View > Full Screen ?

If so, to restore to normal view,
just click View > Full screen (again) to un-indent it

(or find/click the "Close Full Screen" button, which should be floating
somewhere on screen, or docked into the toolbar somewhere)

... btw .. it can't be 10 years (yet) from xl97.. only 7 yrs <g>

Sorry Max
Thanks anyway
I had tried all of your suggestions before reading your post
BUT... I tried them again anyway
I seem to remember years ago about checking a box
on each individual spread sheet "open full page, or maximize
or minimize" however this may have been way back in time
when each icon had a selection.
Ill keep trying

Hi Gene

Try this. Open an Excel file, and when it opens, click the Maximize
button. This should make it smaller. Then drag on the top, bottom, side
borders, etc. to make the file the size you want, then close it. I believe
that Excel remembers this, and the next time you open an Excel file, it
should open the way you left that one.

I hope that makes sense and that I am understanding you correctly. If not,
my apologies.
