The term dual core means that it can run both 32 bite and 64 bite
applications. The computer you are considering purchasing will run your
current Windows XP Service Pack 2 and also Windows Vista, a 64 bite version
of Windows, when it is released. The new computer will run all of your
current applications.
You can if you wish get a free copy of Windows 64 bite editions from
Microsoft. The problem with doing this is that not all hardware or software
you currently have may work in the free copy of Windows 64 edtion.

No.

Saw some FAQs that there is WinXP 64-bit edition..

Yes. *If* your CPU is 64-bit, you *can* use the 64-bit edition, but you
don't have to. If you don't, you won't get any benefit from the CPU being
64-bit, but unless you have 64-bit applications, there's almost no benefit
anyway.

so wat izit about? i dun understand.. can i use my current
WinXPproSP2 normal edition disc on the new 64-bit system?

Yes.

or i need
new WinXP x64 edition disc to be installed on the future 64-bit comp?

No.

No, that's not at all what it means. It means there are essentially two
processors within the single chip.

your current Windows XP Service Pack 2 and also Windows Vista, a 64
bite version of Windows, when it is released.

Vista is *not* a 64-bit version of Windows. Vista will be released in both
32-bit and 64-bit versions.

No, you can get only a trial version, good for 180-day evaluation only.

or i need
Then why was I not able to install my old 32bit Windows XP on my new
motherboard and new CPU. It crashed with a blue screen every time I tried to
install all my previous versions of Windows Operating Systems. It wouldn't
even recognize the existing partitions on any of my hard drives, even after
it was newly formated.

The only way I was able to get windows running at all was to get the new x64
bit installed, and now it seems I'm having memory management issues with the
new WOW64 emulation system.
