Wrong HAL Selected

If I remember well is recomended to repair your installation - there's no
needed to install Windows again.

Hi,
I have done a real daft thing.

I have just put a new hard drive in my PC and performed a new
installation of Win XP PRO.

I remember from some time ago that you need to press F5 so you can
select the correct HAL for the PC. I selected the wrong one and now the

PC won't shut down correctly.

I should have selected the 'Advanced Configuration and Power Interface
(ACPI) PC'

Now that Win Xp is now installed on the PC how do I get it back to the
stage where I can select the HAL.

Do I reformat the hard drive to wipe XP and then go through a new
installation ?
