Writing to Disc

Can anyone help? I am having a problem with writing to disc. I am able to
write files to disc if I put a CD-R disc in. However when I try to write
files to a CD-RW disc, my computer suggests that I put a writable disc in or
at least one that has sufficient space. I was able to use these new CD-RW
discs with my old motherboard (I recently lost my old one and had to replace
it.) My windows XP is the same version on both Motherboards. Is there a
setting for CD-RWs that I missed, or an update that I am missing? Any help
would be appreciated.
Thanks, Jerry B.

Hi Doug,

Thanks for the post. What do you mean? I didn't know that I had to format my
CD/ DVD write drive. What are the steps? Doesn't formatting the drive wipe
out the drive and the drivers? Please enlighten.

Thanks,
Jerry B.

Jerry, sorry for delay in reply... What I meant by formatting it, is that
you need to format or prepare your CD-RW disk to be written to. Not the
drive. Think of the RW media as floppy disk, you need to format it before
it can hold data. It is in the RAW form when you buy it.

I don't know what burning software you use, so I cannot instruct you on the
process of formatting the RW disk, but look around in your software, and
there should be a utility. Personally, I prefer "NERO Burning ROM", it's
always been a solid performer.

Regards,

Doug
