Writing to CDs

I now don't seem to be able to use the CD writer that comes with XP. Don't
know if I'm doing it wrong, I've used it before but now it keeps coming up
with 'This is not a re-writable CD etc' It is, its a multisession CD. I
then used Nero on it and it allowed me to copy to it. Driving me nuts!!

In my brief experience with XP's built-in CD/W capabilities, I've come
to the conclusion that it's confusing in its mode of operation and
severely crippled. I suggest you stick with Nero and InCD. Works here.

Hi Lynn,
I had a similar problem with the Xp writer, and now only use the Nero.
This pc business was new to me at the time, and I thought that CD-R meant
that the CD was re writeable.
This is not so, as the re writeable ones are labelled CD-RW, and a lot lot
more expensive.
I think the Xp problem was that if the file was checked as read only,
the Xp CD writer would close off the CD after that file was burned onto the
CD. This may be completely wrong, but I didn't persist with one file only
writing to CD's. The message was the same as yours + the CD is full.
I stuffed one CD up with only 45 bytes, and Nero couldn't use it as well.
The Nero notes are very good, running to 20 A4 pages, so it is easier to
print it out and read as you go through the process.
Rob.

Some times the xp writing software will write on a cd that that has been
written on by an old adaptec software and nero doesn't recognize.
