writing to cd drive

In windows XP, I try and send things to cd rom, and it always says no cd in
drive K

the drive I use for writing is J

what can I do?

Put in a blank CD-R or CD-RW. If you have already done that, do this:
Start/My Computer/rightclick your CD-Rom drive/Properties/Recording tab
Tick "Enable recording on this drive", click Apply and OK.

If I could just get the auto run thing to work again, you know the box that
pops up and asks you what you want to do with the cd you just inserted?
