writing @ in word

i am so greatful that forum gave the answer of my question previously. but
the problem is still there and still i am unable to write @ in ms word. my
laptop is toshiba setellite. if i write shift+2, it writes ". what to do
please
 
Did you change the keyboard configuration in Windows Regional settings to US
English pattern?

Hold down the [Ctrl] + [Shift] keys and count to six.
Release and check the keyboard.
